Amit Jethwas father, Bhikhalal Jethwa, on Thursday approached the Gujarat high court demanding a CBI probe or setting up a SIT to probe the RTI activist’s murder case.
In his petition filed through advocate Anand Yagnik, Bhikhalal has claimed that the city crime branch, which has been probing the case, will not go beyond the arrest of Shiva Solanki, the nephew of BJP MP from Junagadh Dinu Solanki.
In fact, the real culprit is the politician, against whose illegal mining activity in the prohibited zone of Gir sanctuary the PIL was filed, and Shiva has nothing to do with the case.
He expressed apprehension that due to Solanki’s proximity to finance minister Vajubhai Vala and chief minister Narendra Modi, the state police will never dare arrest the MP.

Moreover, his arrest is likely to disturb equations among the police, politicians, bureaucracy and Ambuja Cement, the petitioner has alleged.
Bhikhalal has also made the chief minister one of the respondents in his petition.
When the case came up for hearing, justice Akil Kureshi observed that the chief justice himself have taken cognizance of the murder, which had taken place near the high court on July 20. The division bench has ex
pressed grave concern and is monitoring the investigation. The judge directed the registry to be placed before the division bench that is hearing the PIL against illegal mining.
